Things to Do in Denver This Weekend: Oct 23–25, 2026

By Eventism TeamLast verified Oct 22, 2026 Editor-curated

Halloween is in the rearview and Denver doesn't slow down — it changes registers. This is Denver Arts Week's opening weekend: the 20th annual celebration starts Friday Nov 6 with expanded First Friday Art Walks across RiNo, the Art District on Santa Fe, 40 West and Tennyson, then peaks Saturday night when 18 museums open free from 5 to 10 PM for Free Night at the Museums, shuttles included. The stages are just as stacked: Disney's Beauty and the Beast plays its final Buell Theatre performances Friday and Saturday, the Colorado Avalanche host Detroit at Ball Arena, Ali Wong headlines Bellco, ATLiens plays one of the last Red Rocks nights of the season, and the Frightmare Compound closes its season in total darkness with its Lights Out finale. Sunday is a road-game morning — the Broncos are at Carolina at 11 AM MT on CBS, so post up at a room with the sound on from our Best Sports Bars in Denver guide — then closes with punk history (The Damned at the Ogden) and 311 at Mission Ballroom. The whole month around this weekend lives in our Denver Events This Month: Best of November 2026 guide, the free picks are rounded up in Free Things to Do in Denver, and the rooms on this list are profiled in Best Live Music Venues in Denver.

Denver Arts Week 2026 Kickoff: First Friday Art Walks

Denver Arts Week 2026 Kickoff: First Friday Art Walks — photo 1

Galleries and creative districts citywide (RiNo, Art District on Santa Fe, 40 West, Tennyson Berkeley and more). Fri Nov 6, evening (gallery hours vary by district). Free to walk; individual Arts Week events vary.

Visit Denver's 20th annual Arts Week — 200+ events over ten days (Nov 6–15) — opens the way it should: with the whole city's gallery districts open at once. Work Santa Fe Drive for the classic crawl, RiNo for the murals-to-warehouses route, or 40 West for its Día de los Muertos Colfax Art Crawl with an ofrenda and Catrina-inspired work. Pick one district and walk it properly rather than trying to cross town twice.

Disney's Beauty and the Beast — Final Performances

Buell Theatre, 1400 Curtis St, Downtown (Denver Performing Arts Complex). Fri Nov 6, 7:30 PM; Sat Nov 7, 2:00 PM and 7:30 PM — closing day. (NO Sunday show.)

Disney's first North American touring production of the musical in more than 25 years ends its Denver run this weekend, so this is the last chance, not the start of one. Saturday's matinee is the family move — out by dinner, and the kids still get the full "Be Our Guest" production number in the Buell's big room. When it's gone Saturday night, it's gone.

Mary Droppinz

Ogden Theatre, 935 E Colfax Ave, Capitol Hill. Fri Nov 6, 8:00 PM. 16+.

Friday's electronic pick on Colfax: Mary Droppinz brings her high-energy, breaks-and-house-leaning DJ set to the Ogden's general-admission floor. The Ogden is the right room for this — one big floor, no seated energy anywhere, and the show starts at a civilized 8 PM for a Friday. Pair it with an early First Friday walk and you've built the full Arts Week-to-after-dark Friday.

Houndmouth (with Dogpark)

Mission Ballroom, 4242 Wynkoop St, RiNo. Fri Nov 6, 8:00 PM (doors 7:00 PM). 16+.

97.3 KBCO presents the Indiana roots-rock band whose harmonies and bar-band looseness were basically designed for a big GA room. Mission Ballroom's moving stage and balcony configuration keeps a show this size feeling close, and opener Dogpark warms the floor early — don't treat the 8 PM start as a suggestion to arrive at 9.

The Frightmare Compound: Lights Out — Season Finale

The Frightmare Compound: Lights Out — Season Finale — photo 1

The Frightmare Compound, 10798 Yukon St, Westminster. Fri Nov 6 and Sat Nov 7 only, 7:00 PM–midnight — the final two nights of the season.

One weekend past Halloween, Colorado's oldest haunted house (family-run since 1983) closes the only way it knows how: every light in the compound off, a single candle per group, and the creatures loose in the dark. Three haunted attractions, the monster museum and the coffin simulator are all still running underneath the blackout. After Saturday, the haunt season is done here until next fall. The rest of the field is ranked in Best Haunted Houses in Denver 2026.

Free Night at the Museums (Denver Arts Week)

Free Night at the Museums (Denver Arts Week) — photo 1

18 museums and cultural attractions citywide. Sat Nov 7, 5:00–10:00 PM. Free general admission; free shuttles run between selected locations all evening.

The single best free night of Denver's year: the Denver Art Museum, Denver Museum of Nature & Science, History Colorado Center, Clyfford Still Museum, Molly Brown House, Children's Museum, Wings Over the Rockies and a dozen more, all open late and all free. You cannot do 18 in five hours — pick a cluster (the Golden Triangle museums walk well together), ride the shuttles between two or three anchors, and note that special exhibitions can still be ticketed (the DAM's DIVA is $15 that night).

ATLiens

Red Rocks Amphitheatre, 18300 W Alameda Pkwy, Morrison. Sat Nov 7, 6:00 PM.

The masked Atlanta bass duo lands at Red Rocks near the very end of the venue's season, with a 6 PM start that puts the heavy drops after dark under the sandstone. November at Red Rocks is a different contract than July: the show will be worth it, and you will be cold — real layers, hat, gloves, no debate. This is the weekend's loudest outdoor night.

Detroit Red Wings at Colorado Avalanche

Detroit Red Wings at Colorado Avalanche — photo 1

Ball Arena, 1000 Chopper Cir, Downtown. Sat Nov 7, 7:00 PM.

The old rivalry, renewed in its modern form: Detroit in Denver still draws a split crowd and a louder-than-usual Ball Arena, even three decades on from the rivalry's peak. It's the only home game in town this weekend — the Nuggets and Broncos are both on the road — so Saturday night sports energy in Denver runs through this building.

Daniel Donato's Cosmic Country

Mission Ballroom, 4242 Wynkoop St, RiNo. Sat Nov 7, 8:00 PM (doors 7:00 PM). 16+.

Night two of Donato's biggest Denver run to date — the band plays Cervantes' Masterpiece Ballroom on Friday Nov 6, then moves up to Mission Ballroom to close the fall tour on Saturday. The Cosmic Country formula — Nashville picking, psychedelic stretch-outs, Grateful Dead-adjacent jams that actually land — fills Mission's floor with the jam crowd at its happiest. Two different rooms, two different shows; Saturday is the big-room finale.

Ali Wong

Bellco Theatre, 700 14th St, Downtown. Sat Nov 7, 8:00 PM.

The weekend's biggest comedy ticket by a mile: Ali Wong brings the Ali Wong Live tour to Bellco's 4,000-plus-seat room — a theatre show, not a club set, from one of the few stand-ups who can fill it. Downtown on a Saturday night, so build in parking and dinner time; the Arts Week crowds will be sharing both. More rooms for the rest of the month are in Best Comedy Clubs in Denver.

The Damned (with Agent Orange and The Courettes)

Ogden Theatre, 935 E Colfax Ave, Capitol Hill. Sun Nov 8, 7:30 PM. 16+.

Fifty years in, the original UK punk-and-goth pioneers are calling it the Final Damnation 50 tour — and the support bill is a show in itself, with California skate-punk legends Agent Orange and Denmark's The Courettes opening. Sunday night on Colfax with a genuinely historic bill: if "Neat Neat Neat" and "New Rose" mean anything to you, this is not a maybe.

311 (with Beach Weather and Tunnel Vision)

311 (with Beach Weather and Tunnel Vision) — photo 1

Mission Ballroom, 4242 Wynkoop St, RiNo. Sun Nov 8, 7:00 PM (doors 6:00 PM). 16+.

Channel 93.3 presents the Omaha five-piece closing the weekend in RiNo — thirty-plus years of rock-reggae-rap fusion, a catalogue built for singalongs, and two openers (Beach Weather and Tunnel Vision) that make arriving at doors worth it. A 7 PM Sunday start means the weekend ends loud and you still get home at a reasonable hour.

FAQ

What is Denver Arts Week, and what should I do first?

Visit Denver's 20th annual citywide arts celebration, Nov 6–15, with 200+ events. Start with the First Friday Art Walks on Fri Nov 6, then do Free Night at the Museums on Sat Nov 7 (5:00–10:00 PM, 18 museums, free admission and free shuttles between selected locations).

What's free this weekend?

Free Night at the Museums on Saturday is the headline — 18 museums free from 5 to 10 PM (special exhibitions may still be ticketed). The First Friday Art Walks on Friday evening are free to walk. See our Free Things to Do in Denver guide for the year-round list.

Are the Broncos or Nuggets at home this weekend?

No — both are on the road. The Broncos play at Carolina on Sun Nov 8 at 11:00 AM MT on CBS (see our Best Sports Bars in Denver guide for watch-party rooms), and the Nuggets are away on Saturday. The one home game is the Avalanche hosting Detroit at Ball Arena on Sat Nov 7 at 7:00 PM.

What's family-friendly this weekend?

Saturday's 2:00 PM matinee of Beauty and the Beast at the Buell (its final day — the run closes Nov 7), Free Night at the Museums on Saturday evening (the Children's Museum is among the 18 participating), and Denver Fashion Week's Family Day runway on Sunday afternoon (see Verification notes — held as an alternate pending a venue confirmation). The concerts on this list are 16+ unless noted.

Are any haunted houses still open after Halloween?

Yes, two — and both end soon. The Frightmare Compound runs its candle-lit Lights Out finale Fri Nov 6 and Sat Nov 7 only, then closes for the season. 13th Floor's season runs select nights through Nov 14 (see Verification notes on why it isn't a card this weekend). Elitch Gardens Fright Fest ended Nov 1.

What's the biggest Saturday-night show?

By room: Ali Wong at Bellco Theatre (8 PM). By spectacle: ATLiens at Red Rocks (6 PM start — dress for real cold). By noise-per-dollar inside the city: Daniel Donato's Cosmic Country closing its two-night Denver run at Mission Ballroom. They overlap, so pick one lane — museum-hopping at Free Night runs 5–10 PM and stacks with a late show only if you leave the museums early.
